AT/3A

I was planning on having more updates up until this point… but I just decided to steam roll through it and get this in decent shape before I showed anything on it. This is my 1st custom, so I did take some time piecing it together. Some nights I would just que up the Star Wars marathon that was on SPIKE a few weeks ago on my DVR, and just stare at it planning my next move.

If you haven’t guessed it yet, this is Ashley Woods 3A Bamabaland Anniversary figure, combined with an AT/AT Driver from Star Wars, to form my 1st custom named AT/3A. This is just in its primed state, but I thought it looked in good enough shape to throw out there. Still have to clean it up a bit and smooth it down in some spots, maybe over the Labor Day weekend I can get this finished off with a nice paint job.

Impact

A little shoulder damage never hurt anyone!

STEP 1NE: Make Mistakes

I started off the night working with rubber stamp pads to make some of the forms for my 1st custom adventure. It seemed like it would work, it was easy to cut, kept its form mostly, and flexible. Unfortunately it didn’t work out that way. For smaller stuff i think it might work, like some sort of bands or something in the belt/strap realm, but it wasn’t working on this piece of puzzle. It seems like it only comes in a defined thickness and what I needed to construct was double the thickness of what the rubber stamp sheets where. Also being flexible, the rubber stamp material shifted slightly when cut, that pairing up with a second piece wasn’t lining up the way I wanted it to. So I went with some plastic sheets that I picked up at Tap Plastics here in SF, which worked out perfectly with what I had in mind.

Still a work in progress, so not really saying what this is just yet. As time goes on and I start assembling the pieces together, it will be evident. But for now… seeecrets!

Oh ya, after looking at the above picture, I forgot how much crazy glue sucks to get off your fingers.

Sketch

A new sketch that I have done recently, along with a trio of little dudes in a few different stances. I kind of prefer the little guys, nice and quick with a small amount of line work.
